Capsim Global DNA - Free Winning Guides and Tips

1. GlobalDNA its a totally different ball game... Try not to take other simulations numbers too much into account.

Key to Win include:

- Add new products

- Update products

- Calculate Demand (most important)

- Calculate Production

- Set Promo and Sales Budget

- Check Sales

- Check Net Profit

- Set Production (Capacity, Automation)

- Set Outsourcing

- Check Competitors prices

- Use the Excel file for Demand, Production Calculation (Now it is Free)

2. For DNA you want to introduce new products every round, all of them in the Performance segment and your initial product will be pushed into the Budget segment.

- Option 1. Add new product in Perfrormance

- Option 2. Add new product in Budget

- Option 3. Add 2 products in Performance and 1 product in Budget

- Option 4. Add 1 product round 1, then 1 round 2 then 1 round 3

NOTE:

Will have good sales but may have low net profit in round 1, round 2 and round 3 because of Investment in R&D, New products, Promo and Sales.

Calculate Sales Forecast or Demands precisely is the key to WIN.

3. R&DA neat trick I found very useful for R&D its to move your product just a little (maybe 0.1 at a time) and then jump into your Marketing tab, your product will have a green number associated with the attractiveness of such product in the market, push your product in R&D until you see this number stops increasing.

5. Marketing decisions

Another trick for sales its to sell your product in all continents, now... its difficult to know how much you will sell in Europe and Asia at first so you can start by just dividing the units demand by the number of companies in the market (6 usually) and make that your "worst case" forecast, after that each round you can get a feel of how much you will be selling in each market.

Check the launching time to estimate demands

Keep track of market growth

Keep track of competitors prices

Keep track of profit margins

6. Demand Forecast

From 2nd round, we can base on Unit sold previous year then multiple by market growth rate to get forecast for sales of current round.

Check right down corner of Marketing screen for each market demands

Check left down corner of Marketing screen for prices and customer preferences

7. Production capacity

Can sell some capacity in the first round, you want to be using ALL your capacity plus ALL your outsourcing capacity every round, capacity in this simulation does't work like in the others, if you purchase it this round, you can use it this round, so sell anything you have left over and use that money to automate.

Can use 100% own factory and 100% outsourcing

Can use 100% own factory and 50% outsourcing

Do not increase automation too fast

Increase Automation to 4 in round 1

Increase Automation to 5 in round 2 or 3

Increase Automation to 6 in round 4 or 5

Increase Automation to 7 in round 6, 7 or 8

High automation need longer time for products to upgrade

8. Production

Automation its not THAT important like in other simulations, however if you have the money by all means go ahead and invest it. 

Do not increase automation too fast

Keep control of Investment

Keep control of Increasing Capacity each round.

9. Promo and Sales

Promo and Sales budget act different here as well, rule of thumb is that you want to invest in "Product Sales/Promo Budget" if you have just 1 product in a continent, after your 2nd product hits the market then you want to invest in "Region Sales/Promo Budgets"... remember the trick about the green number? 

Do not spend too much for Promo and Sales

Can spend from 10% - 15% total sales for each product in each market

10. Keep track of customer preference

We can check percentage of awareness and accessibility when click Calculate button to see the effects of spending on promo and sales.

11. Finance

As far as Finance my only advice is to have at least 5.000 in cash position at the end of the year... or even 20.000 - 30.000

Borrow long term loans and issue stock in round 1-4 for expansion and automation

From round 5-8, retire stocks and pay off loans with surplus cash in hand.

12. Check report every round

Check the Global report to see the results, sales, profit and inventory.

GlobalDNA Round 2 question?


Thank you very much Tom, it is very much appreciated. Just to double check, why is product Fast2 been put at 6.8 and then product "Fast" is being moved from 6.8 to 7.3. I just don't understand why introducing a new product with the old coordinates is a good strategy?

Fast move from 6.8 to 7.3 in Round 2, so that it can still sell in both segments to bring more sales and more net profit

Performance requires higher than 7.3, so 7.3 sell better than 6.8, although 6.8 is too good for Budget).

Again, we like to sell in both segments in round 2, so increase Fast to 7.3

Next round do not need to update Fast, because we have added a new Performance product, which will sell in Performance segment from round 3.

New Product just need 6.8 (Round 4 speed and size) is good enough to sell in all round 3 and 4.

How should we set for production, should it be 50/50 or 2/1 for outsourcing?

It can be both winning strategies.

You can check with 2 options to see which one has better net profit.

How about the new level of capacity, what should be best for Round 1 capacity?
